Vendel Joseph is making a loud first impression between the posts, as the Medgar Evers College goalkeeper has been tabbed the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, the league announced, marking the seventh weekly award for the Cougars in 2026 and the first of Joseph's young career.
The freshman earned the nod with a brilliant showing against Lehman College back on October 6th, turning aside six shots and keeping the Lightning off the scoreboard, as the conference foes battled to a scoreless draw.
Joseph has been a steady presence all season, posting a 1.58 goals-against average in five appearances (four starts). He has surrendered just seven goals while collecting 26 saves.
The Cougars look to continue their successful 2026 campaign tomorrow afternoon, when they head to the No. 74 field at Randall's Island for a crucial CUNYAC showdown with the Bloodhounds of John Jay College. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
