Women's basketball's offense struggles to find footing in CUNYAC defeat to Bulldogs at West Quad Gymnasium

The Cougars' women's basketball team dropped a CUNYAC game on Tuesday evening, falling to the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College by a score of 90-35. The game took place at the West Quad Gymnasium in Brooklyn, NY. With the loss, Medgar Evers dipped to a mark of 2-18 on the 2025-2026 campaign (1-9 CUNYAC), while the Bulldogs improved to 17-3, staying unblemished in conference competition (10-0).
 
Despite the loss for Medgar Evers, the Cougars were led by newcomer Moutiatou Djibring, as she tied for the game-high of 17 points, while also leading players with 17 rebounds (12 on the offensive glass). The center also swiped a pair of steals, as well. Jennifer Metra added seven points and four rebounds, and Enphani Huskey contributed seven points and two boards. Aaliyah Lyons (seven points, game-high four steals, team-high three assists, three rebounds) and Alexis Davis (seven points, two rebounds, two dimes) also had notable contributions for the visitors.
 
Dior Dorsey paced the Bulldogs in their victory, as she tied for the game-high of 17 points (7-8 FG) while snatching six rebounds and leading all players with three blocks. Brianna Jackson netted 13 points, posted game-highs of seven assists and four steals, and also snatched six rebounds. Ameea Daniel netted 10 points (6-7 FT), and Aaliyah McCalla contributed nine points. Finally, it was Fatou Sagna netting eight points and snatched a team-high 11 rebounds.
 
The Bulldogs raced out to a 9-0 advantage in the opening 3:08 of action (courtesy of Dorsey's four points, a converted triple by Anna Kitch, and a hoop by Danae McMullen), and Brooklyn didn't allow a field goal until there was 4:09 remaining in the first quarter When Davis' bucket sliced the Cougars' deficit to 10 (14-4). The hosts later held a 16-8 advantage, and went on an 8-0 run over the final 2:47 to take a commanding 24-8 edge after 10 minutes of action.
 
Brooklyn dominated the second quarter, outscoring Medgar Evers 32-6, as the Bulldogs allowed just two field goals by Huskey in the period. At the half, Brooklyn held a 42-point advantage, 56-14.
 
Adunoluwa Akinduyi's converted jumper gave the hosts their biggest lead of the game at that juncture, as the Brooklyn led 71-24 (a 47-point edge). The Bulldogs led by 48 at one point during the fourth quarter (80-32), before eventually winning the game going-away by 44.
 
Brooklyn College held a 52-40 edge on the boards, while also holding a 20-11 advantage in steals, and dishing 20 assists to Medgar Evers' nine. Each team swatted five shots apiece, and the Bulldogs won the turnover battle, committing 31 miscues, while the Cougars finished with 40.  

Medgar Evers will return to action on Friday evening, as the Cougars will host the Bloodhounds of John Jay College. Start-time at the Cougars Cave is scheduled for 5:00pm.
