The Medgar Evers College women's basketball team put forth a hearty performance on Friday evening, but ultimately fell short, losing to the Bloodhounds of John Jay College in a CUNYAC contest by a score of 87-72. The game took place at the Cougars Cave in Brooklyn, NY. Additionally, she snatched a game-high 21 rebounds, swatted a game-high two shots, and dished two assists. Finally, it was Aaliyah Lyons scoring eight points, dishing six assists, snatching five rebounds, and leading all Cougars with four steals.

Converted jumpers by Lyons and Djibring gave the Cougars an early 4-0 advantage just 59 seconds into the game. After the Bloodhounds scored four straight to tie the game, Bryanna Merger nailed a long triple to put the hosts back ahead 7-4. John Jay answered Merger's trifecta with a 9-0 run over a span of 3:03, courtesy of four points by Minick, a converted triple by Simonds, and a bucket by Crockett.

The pendulum then swung Medgar Evers' way, with the Cougars scoring 10 of the next 12 points to catapult ahead by a score of 17-15 with 2:11 remaining in the first quarter. That aforementioned run featured Davis and Lyons scoring four points apiece, and Djibring earning a bucket. John Jay then responded with a 10-2 run of its own, capped by a buzzer-beating basket by Kailani Galan, to take a 25-19 advantage after 10 minutes of play.

Medgar Evers inched to within two, 25-23, following a pair of converted free throws by Djibring to start the second quarter. John Jay used a 17-8 run to go up 42-32 following a Latitmore layup with 2:46 left to play before halftime. The Bloodhounds finished the quarter outscoring Medgar Evers 10-9 as Minick stole the ball from Djibring and drained the running jumper before the buzzer sounded as the visitors snatched a 52-42 edge as the teams headed into the locker room for at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Bloodhounds took a 14-point lead on three different occasions, with the latter occurrence coming when John Jay took a 64-50 edge following a pair of made free throws by Essence. The Cougars then rattled off seven consecutive points (thanks to a made three-point basket by Davis, and four points by Djibring) to close to within seven (64-57) with 1:58 remaining in the period. Later, in the closing seconds of the session, and John Jay up 67-57, Davis knocked down a jumper to pull the Cougars to within single digits (67-59) as the game entered the final quarter.

Medgar Evers would close to within 13 (85-72) with 2:23 left after a made basket by Davis, but those would be the final points of the evening for the hosts, as John Jay went on to win the game by 15 (87-72).
