Indoor Track & Field aces Reco Griffith, Brianna Lindo earn USTFCCCA All-Region distinctions

The accolades continue to be collected for Medgar Evers College's men's and women's indoor track and field teams following their stellar 2025-2026 seasons, as earlier this week, it was announced that veteran Reco Griffith and freshman Brianna Lindo have earned USTFCCCA All-Region distinctions. Following the announcement of the awards, Head Coach Hugh Reid praised both of his standout student-athletes.

"I am extremely proud to see Reco and Brianna earn recognition on a grand level, especially because they compete against a plethora of strong institutions in the country," Reid said. "Reco performed like one of the premiere student-athletes in the Region all throughout the 2025-2026 campaign, and as for Brianna, it's a testament to the talent that she possesses, as well as her diligent work ethic. For her earn regional recognition in one event is amazing on its own, but she did it in four. What's incredible is that she hasn't even scratched the surface of what she is capable of achieving."

The top-8 individuals in each event from each region on the year-end Descending Order Lists earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-8 relay teams. The regions used for this award – East, Great Lakes, Metro, Mid-Atlantic, Mideast, Midwest, Niagara, North, South, and West – match those used during the cross country season.

Lindo, the CUNYAC Indoor Track & Field Most Valuable Performer, was honored in four events. In the Metro region, she was No. 3 in the triple jump (11.91m), No. 5 in the pentathlon (2,909 points) and No. 8 in the high jump (1.53m) and the 60-meter hurdles (9.17).

On the men's side, Griffith, who captured the 60-Meter dash event at the CUNYAC Championships, was honored in the 60-meter dash. Griffith was fifth in the Metro region with a top time of 6.91 seconds.

Griffith and Lindo will now transition to the 2026 outdoor track and field season, as the Cougars will compete in the Army Open on Friday, March 20, and Saturday, March 21. Times for both days of the meet are to-be-announced.
