Men's Indoor Track & Field

Indoor Track & Field teams finalize 2025-2026 season with dazzling performances at AARTFC championships

In its final meet of the indoor season, the CUNYAC Champion Medgar Evers College Track & Field program showcased its talent and determination against some of the NCAA region's strongest programs at the AARTFC Regional Championships.

Over the course of the indoor season, Medgar Evers qualified 12 student-athletes for the regional championship. Of those qualifiers, nine returned to competition on their home track at The Armory, competing with confidence and momentum following their dominant performances at last week's CUNYAC Championships.

Facing a deep and competitive field that included nationally recognized programs such as SUNY Geneseo, Ithaca College, University of Rochester, Rowan University, Colby College, Ursinus College, Utica University, RIT, TCNJ, and Springfield College, the Cougars represented themselves with resilience and professionalism.

Across multiple event groups, Medgar Evers student-athletes displayed competitive maturity, producing an impressive collection of AARTFC Regional First Team and Second Team performances, along with school records, personal bests, and top all-time program marks. The meet served as both a test of preparation and a reflection of the program's continued upward trajectory throughout the 2026 indoor season.

The Medgar Evers women's team finished tied for 32nd overall in the regional standings.

Quote from Coach Reid:

"The AARTFC Regional Championships marked a fitting conclusion to a historic indoor campaign for the Cougars", Reid said. "With multiple school records, personal bests, and regional-level performances, the Medgar Evers College Track & Field program continues to build momentum as it transitions toward the 2026 outdoor season."

Women's Highlights:

Brianna Lindo, the CUNYAC championship Most Valuable Performer, as well as the conference's Track Athlete of the Year and Field Athlete of the Year, was sensational at the AARTFC championship meet. In the 60-meter hurdles, the rookie came in 16th (9.17), setting a personal record, as well as a Medgar Evers College record. Additionally, she finished third in the triple jump (11.31m), achieve a personal record and an institutional record in that as well.

In the 4x200 meter relay event, Lindo, along with Rinnah Brown, Danajah Lawrence, and Thenica Thompson, set a school record, finishing 20th (1:48.67).

The distance medley relay unit of Lindo, Kenia Irish-Bramble, Nana Samake, and Thompson secured 18th place with a time of 14:02.77, setting a new standard for Medgar Evers College.

Men's Highlights:

Omari Hinds, the CUNYAC championship Most Valuable Performer, as well as the Field Athlete of the Year, earned a 19th place finish in the high jump (1.86m), and 25th place in the long jump (6.25m).

Reco Griffith earned ninth (22.13) and 11th (6.93) place finishes in the 200-meter and 60-meter dash events, respectively.

Lashaun Miller set a personal record in the 60-meter dash, coming in 33rd place with a time of 7.13.

The Cougars' next focus:

Medgar Evers College will now transition to the outdoor season, where the Cougars will set their sights on continuing their dominance in the CUNY Athletic Conference. During Coach Reid's tenure, the Cougars have now captured eight out of 10 achievable conference crowns, and with a solid blend of veterans and newcomers promised to round out the outdoor rosters, Medgar Evers should be heavy favorites to continue the aforementioned historic run.
