LADY COUGARS FALL TO PRATT IN DRAMATIC 5 SETTER IN WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Brooklyn, NY- In what was a fantastic match to watch, it took alot of energy out of the Women's Volleyball Lady Cougars. They dropped their 20th match of the season losing a heartbreaker 3-2 to Pratt Institute Cannoneers on Saturday Oct.22, 2011 at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Pratt improved to 4-3 Overall. The scores were (25-18, 13-25, 17-25, 26-24, 9-15) in favor of Pratt.

The first set was taken by the Lady Cougars. They seemed relaxed and in control. Maybe this was the match that would turn into a victory. They would lose the next 2 sets and force a 4th set. MEC had a 20-10 lead. Pratt came back and tied the match at 24. MEC would tack on 2 more points and force a decisive 5th set. Pratt led from the start and won the 5th set in easy fashion.

In the loss, Yvanna Jack led the Lady Cougars with 11 kills. It was her most this season in one match. She also tallied 2 assists, 2 service aces, 7 digs, a solo block and 4 blocking assists. Beatrice Bonhomme tallied 5 kills and Janiece Hill and Catheline Joseph each accumulated 4 kills. AnnMarie Bemberry tallied a team high 13 assists, while Joseph notched team match highs in service aces and digs (5 and 10). Bonhomme led in solo blocks with 4.

Pratt was led by Diana Lezama. She tallied a team high 10 kills.

The Lady Cougars will be back in action on Tuesday Oct.25, 2011, when they play their final conference match CCNY at CCNY in Harlem, NY. Game time is set for 7pm.
