Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Cougars defeated St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) 84-66 on Sunday January 29, 2012 at MEC. The win which is the Cougars 4th straight extends their record to 14-8 Overall while the Bears dropped 8-12 Overall.
The 1st half can only be described as a see saw. The game was tied 6 times in the half. St. Joes started off with a jumper followed by the Cougars jumper. The Bears would lead by 6pts until MEC regained the lead albriet briefly. St. Joes would lead until the 8 minute mark, where MEC would tie the game on a
Jovan Deare free throw. MEC would take the lead and keep it until the break. The game was tied at 37 going into the half.
The 2nd half started off on a layup from St. Joes giving them a brief lead. MEC would tie the game on a jumper from
Jovan Deare, then took the lead on another jumper from Junior
Winston Douglas. They would hold on the lead for the rest of the game. MEC would lead by 20pts by games end.
MEC in the win, was led by
Winston Douglas. The Junior scored a game high 26pts (5-5 FT), grabbed 10 rebounds. This is his 15th double double of the season and still tied for #1 in the nation. He tallied 2 assists, 3 blocks, and 3 steals.
Jovan Deare scored 22pts (10-10 FT), grabbed 10 rebounds, and recorded 6 assists.
Brian Johnson scored 14pts and
Kayode Prime added 12pts.
St. Joes Bk was led by David Louison who scored 19pts, Jan Rogowski scored 18pts, and Antoine Forehand added 10pts.

Chris Pursoo stated "I'm happy for my guys hardwork and listening to what we said during practice. Now we are preparing for Brooklyn and the rest of conference play. Losing to them the first time, left a bad taste in my mouth and my players. We know we don't want to leave our place with that feeling again."
MEC will be back in action on Wednesday February 1, 2012 when they play South Division and boro rival Brooklyn College Bulldogs at MEC. Game time is 8pm.
