CARDINALS SOAR PAST COUGARS 5-2 IN MEN’S SOCCER

Box Score Brooklyn, NY- On Saturday Oct. 13, 2012, the Medgar Evers College Men's Soccer team played CUNYAC rival the York College Cardinals at Aviator Sports and Recreational Center in Brooklyn, NY. York won the game by final of 5-2.
 
York (3-10-1 Overall, 2-5-1 CUNYAC) took a 2-0 lead 17 minutes in. Medgar Evers (1-11 Overall, 0-6 CUNYAC) made 6 shots in the 1st half and 5 on goal. The Cougars finally got on the board when Sophomore Zeakiel Daley scored in the 25th minute on a penalty kick. This was his 3rd goal of the season. In the 2nd half, York scored 3 more times. Medgar Evers would get their 2nd goal, when Freshman Niccomi Chandler (81st minute) scored after rifling a kick pass York keeper Qudus Kassim. This was his 2nd goal in 2 games and made score 5-2.
 
For the goalkeepers, Medgar Evers College Christopher Welsh played all 90 minutes, gave up 5 goals and made 6 saves. His counterparts Leszek Stankiewicz played 72 minutes, gave up a goal, and made 4 saves. Qudus Kassim played 19 minutes and made up a goal.
 
Medgar Evers will be back in action on Tuesday Oct. 16, 2012 when they take on defending CUNYAC Champions Lehman College Lightning. Game time is 7pm at Aviator Sports and Recreational Center in Brooklyn, NY.
