COUGARS BEAT CARDINALS 64-61

Box Score Jamaica, NY- The Cougars defeated the York College Cardinals 64-61 on Friday February 3, 2012 at York College. The win improves the Cougars to 15-9 Overall and 5-5 CUNYAC while the Cardinals dropped to 7-15 Overall and 3-5 CUNYAC.

MEC dominated the majority of the game with the exception of York tying the game 3 times. MEC led by as much as 8pts in the 1st half. York led briefly to begin the 2nd half but MEC regained the lead and never looked back. MEC led by as much as 16pts in the 2nd half.

In the win, MEC was led by Winston Douglas. The Hempstead, NY native recorded his 18th and still tied for #1 in the nation Double Double. Douglas scored 21pts a game high, garned 15 rebounds, tallied 2 assists, a block, and 3 steals. Brian Johnson scored 19pts and Jovan Deare scored 18pts.

York in the loss was led by Michael Edwards with 12pts and Michael Trowers with 10pts. 

The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday February 8th, 2012 when they play the College of Staten Island Dolphins at MEC in the 2011-12 season finale. Game time is 8pm and before the game will honor its seniors from the basketball teams.
