COUGARS DROP SEASON OPENER TO YESIVA 3-0 IN WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Box Score New York, NY- On Tuesday Sept. 4, 2012, the Women's Volleyball Cougars kicked off the season against Hudson Valley rival Yeshiva Maccabees. The Cougars lost 3-0 (9-25, 19-25, 17-25). MEC dropped to 0-1 Overall and 0-1 HVWAC while Yeshiva improved to 1-0 Overall and 1-0 HVWAC. 

The Cougars in the loss were led by Senior Beatrice Bonhomme. The Brooklyn native recorded 7 kills on 23 total attepmpts, and tallied 2 assists. Junior Janiece Hill added 6 kills. Sophomore AnnMarie Bemberry recorded a team high 12 assists. The 2012 Cougars feature 5 new additions, 3 of which played in tonights game. One of the new additions, Shawn James tallied 2 service aces.

Yeshiva was led by Jackie Berger and Makena Owens who notched 6 kills apiece.

The Women will be back in action on Saturday Sept. 8, 2012, when they play in the first 2 CUNYAC matches at York College in Jamaica, NY. MEC will play The College of Staten Island Dolphins at 3:30pm followed by a showdown against the Lightning of Lehman College at 5:30pm. Admission is free so come down and support your Cougars Women's Volleyball team.
