Box Score 2 Jamaica, NY- On Saturday Sept. 8, 2012, the Medgar Evers College Women's Volleyball Cougars competed in the 2012 CUNYAC Multi Match at York College. In match 1, MEC fell to the College of Staten Island Dolphins 3-0 (17-25, 14-25, and 18-25). In match 2, MEC dropped to Lehman College 3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 13-25, 17-25).
In match 1, Junior
Catheline Joseph led the Cougars with 4 kills on 11 total attacks, an ace, an assist, 12 digs, and a blocking assist. Sophomore
Janiece Hill finished with 3 kills and an ace, and both
Beatrice Bonhomme and
AnnMarie Bemberry each tallied 2 kills. Sophomore Bemberry tallied a team high 5 assists. CSI was led by Pola Poskrobko with 12 kills. MEC fell to 0-2 Overall and 0-1 CUNYAC. The College of Staten Island Dolphins improved to 1-3 Overall and 1-1 CUNYAC.
In match 2, MEC dropped the first set before playing well and winning the 2
nd set, which was the first set they won this season. The Cougars would drop the last two sets to lose the match. MEC was led by Sophomore
Janiece Hill, The Beach Channel graduate, tallied a team high 6 kills on 25 total attacks and 9 digs. Fellow sophomore
AnnMarie Bemberry tallied 5 kills on only 7 total attacks, 2 service aces, and a dig. Senior
Beatrice Bonhomme racked in 4 kills and 4 service aces.
AnnMarie Bemberry led the team with 8 assists. Junior
Catheline Joseph accumulated 3 solo blocks. Lehman was led by Besa Zabelaj with 7 kills. MEC fell to 0-3 Overall and 0-2 CUNYAC. Lehman improved to 2-3 Overall and 2-0 CUNYAC.
MEC returns to action on Tuesday Sept. 11, 2012, when they travel to Manhattan and take on the John Jay Bloodhounds. Game time is at 7pm. On Thursday Sept. 13, 2012, the Cougars will play The King's College of New York at Medgar Evers College. Game time is 7pm. Come on down and support your Women's Volleyball Cougars in the home opener on 9/13 and come on the road to cheer on your Cougars at another school.
