COUGARS FALL TO BEAVERS 68-60 IN MEN'S BASKETBALL ACTION

Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Medgar Evers College Men's Basketball Cougars fell to the City College Beavers 68-60 on Friday January 25, 2013. The Beavers improved to 7-11 Overall and 3-7 CUNYAC while the Cougars dropped to 8-11 Overall and 4-6 CUNYAC.

The 1st half featured 4 ties and the Cougars led 4 times. The Cougars and Beavers made their shots and kept the game close. Medgar Evers College extended their lead to 4pts. The Beavers took the lead on a Terence Johnston jumper, making the score 13-11 with 12:05 left in the 1st half. They would lead the rest of the 1st half, and go up by as much as 10pts.

In the 2nd half, Medgar Evers College cut away a 10pts deficit in under 5 minutes, before regaining the lead. Senior Captain and Guard Jovan Deare made the layup that gave the Cougars the 38-37 advantage. City College chipped away at the lead and finally grabbed hold of it with 11:18 left in the game. Derrell Williams made a layup, giving CCNY the 45-44 lead. The Cougars would never take the lead the rest of the match.

In the loss, Medgar Evers College was led by Senior Forward Winstion Douglas with 22pts (4-8 3pt. FG-FGA, and 4-6 FT-FTA). Douglas grabbed 13 rebounds and recorded his 14th double double of the season. He added an assist, a game and season high 7 blocks, and 2 steals. Senior Captain and Guard Jovan Deare scored 20pts and grabbed 12 rebounds. Deare tallied 4 assists, a block, and 2 steals.

City College in the win, was led by Terence Johnston with 23pts and Paul Dail with 22pts.

The Cougars will be back in action on Monday January 28, 2013, when they play the Hunter College Hawks at Medgar Evers College. Game time is 8pm and can be seen live on http://ustream.tv/channel/mecathletics
