Box Score Brooklyn, NY- Earlier tonight as Medgar Evers College Athletics celebrated Dig Pink Night, the Women's Volleyball team defeated their arch rival The Pratt Institute Cannoneers 3-1 (21-25, 25-23, 25-19, and 25-17). The win improved the Cougars record to 2-21 Overall while the Cannoneers drop to 7-11 Overall.
This win breaks a 5 match losing streak at home, dating back to last season. Pratt took an early first set lead, tallying 5 kills. The Cougars then came back with a strong 2nd set, recording 11 kills on 36 total attacks, to win the set. In sets 3 and 4, Medgar Evers College recorded 15 kills compared to Pratt's 8.
Leading the Cougars in the win, was Senior Captain and Outside Hitter
Janiece Hill, with a match high, and season high 14 kills on 41 total attacks. Hill added 3 service aces, 10 digs, and a solo block. Junior Outside Hitter
Kiwelewa Mlimwengu tallied 6 kills on 12 total attacks. The Brooklyn, NY native added an assist, a service ace, and 18 digs.Sophomore Setter
Nina Bernadine-White recorded a match high 14 assists and 6 service aces. Freshman Middle Hitter/Outside Hitter
Malado Kaba added a match high 2 solo blocks.
Leading the Cannoneers in the loss, was Charlotte Burch with 5 kills.
Dig Pink Night 2013 was a nice success, as the Department raised close to $100 to Breast Cancer Awareness.
The Cougars will be back in action on Thursday Oct. 24, 2013, when the York College Cardinals come to the Cougars Cave. This will be Senior Night as Captain
