MEN'S BASKETBALL NO MATCH FOR LEHMAN LIGHTNING IN CONFERENCE OPENER

Box Score Bronx, NY- The Men's Basketball team fell to the Lehman College Lightning 97-61 in the 1st CUNYAC Game this season. Lehman improves to 3-2 Overall and 1-0 CUNYAC while the Cougars fall to 1-5 Overall and 0-1 CUNYAC. 

The Cougars and Lightning exchanged baskets for the first 6 minutes of action. The Cougars would lead three times and only by that number. Lehman would take the lead from a layup by Brandon Stolz (11-10) with 14:23 left in the 1st half. The Lightning would lead the rest of the game.

The Cougars shot better from 3pt. range (40%) than Lehman (27.27%) and from the free throw line (66.67%) than Lehman (58.33%) in the 1st half.

In the loss, the Cougars were led by Junior Guard Khalid Yousef with 10pts (4-4 FT-FTA). He grabbed 3 rebounds and recorded an assist. Freshman Guards Edgar Benedith and Jordan Tyson both scored 10pts. Benedith grabbed two rebounds and tallied two assists. Tyson grabbed 3 rebounds, added an assist, and two steals.

In the win, Lehman College was led by Jerrome Jones with 21pts. Five players scored in double digits with Brandon Stolz and Stanley Stephens scoring 15pts, Kelvin Gil recording 13pts, and Ryan Alvarado adding 11pts. 

The Cougars enjoy the Thanksgiving break and play again on Monday December 2, 2013. They opponent will be the Ramapo College Roadrunners. Game time is 7:30pm.
