Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Medgar Evers College Men's Basketball Cougars fell to the College of Staten Island Dolphins 113-79 earlier tonight. The Dolphins improve to 10-2 Overall and 5-0 CUNYAC while the Cougars drop to 1-12 Overall and 0-6 CUNYAC.
The Cougars opened the game with 2-0 lead. They would trade baskets with the Dolphins and lead just once at 7-6, with 15:29 left. The Dolphins would score and the lead would stay with the Dolphins for the remaining of the game. The two bright spots for the Cougars, was they shot better in 3pt. shooting and free throw shooting, than the Dolphins in the game. The Cougars shot 36.4% from 3pt. range compared to 33.3% from the Dolphins, and 65.4% from the free throw line compared to 57.1% from the Dolphins.
In the loss, the Cougars were led by Junior Forward/Center and Co-Captain
Valin Williams and Junior Guard
Khalid Yousef both with 19pts. Williams was 7-8 on the free throw line and Yousef was 1-4 from behind the arc and 6-10 on the free throw line.
Valin Williams grabbed a game high 14 rebounds, which was his fourth double double this season. The Brooklyn, NY native dished out an assist and swatted five balls that came his way. Yousef grabbed seven rebounds, dished out two assists, and tallied three steals. Freshman Guard
Edgar Benedith scored 16pts (4-6 3pt FG-FGA), and Sophomore Guard and Co-Captain
Pablo Segura added 10pts (2-2 3pt. FG-FGA and 2-2 FT-FTA). Â
In the win, the Dolphins were led by Dylan Bulger with 29pts. Four other student-athletes scored in double digits, including Bloochy Magloire with 23pts, Will Fonseca with 19pts, Javon Cox with 13pts, and Kevin King adding 10pts.Â
The Cougars will be back in action on Sunday January 12, 2014, when they travel to Center Valley, PA, and take on the DeSales University Bulldogs. Game time is 3pm.  Â
