Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Medgar Evers College Men's Basketball Cougars fell to the Saint Joseph's College of Brooklyn Bears 97-74 earlier tonight. The Bears improve to 10-8 Overall while the Cougars drop to 2-17 Overall.
The first half can be best described as a tug of war. This was the 1st time all season, the Cougars didn't go to the free throw line in the 1st half. Medgar Evers College shot 48.72% from the field and 54.55% from 3pt. range. St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn shot 55.56% from the field and 28.57% from 3pt. range. With the game tied up at 44, the 2nd half was all Bears. They started the half on a 6-0 run. The Cougars cut the lead to just a bucket 55-53 with 15:52 left in the game. The Bears made their shots and pulled away. In the 2nd half, the Cougars shot 29.41% from the field, 37.50% from 3pt. range, and 63.64% from the free throw line. The Bears shot 53.85% from the field, 60% from 3pt. range, and 50% from the free throw line.
In the loss, the Cougars were led by Junior Guard
Khalid Yousef with a game high 28pts (3-7 3pt. range and 3-4 FT-FTA). The Queens, NY native grabbed four rebounds, and added two steals. Junior Forward/Center and Co-Captain
Valin Williams scored 11pts (5-8 FG-FGA, and 1-2 FT-FTA) and grabbed 17 rebounds. This is his 6th double double of the season. Williams dished out an assist, and added a block. Sophomore Guard and Co-Captain
Pablo Segura scored 10pts (2-3 3pt. range). The Queens, NY native grabbed three rebounds, and dished out three assists.
In the win, the Bears were led by David Louison with 27pts. Three other Bears scored in double figures including: Michael Megafu (19pts), Matt O'Neill (17pts), and David Ortiz with 11pts.Â
The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday January 29, 2014, when the Brooklyn College Bulldogs invade Medgar Evers College. This will be a blackout game, as the Cougars will be wearing their black jerseys. Game time is 8pm. Fans come out and show your support by wearing something black.
