WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SHOWS COURAGE AGAINST MT. ST. MARY

Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Medgar Evers College Women's Volleyball team fell to the Mount Saint Mary Knights 3-0 (10-25, 20-25, and 7-25) earier tonight. The win improves the Knights record to 10-14 overall while the Cougars drop to 3-16 overall. 

The Cougars tallied 11 kills for the match. The 1st set was managed by the Knights. In the 2nd set, the Cougars played good volleyball, featuring crisp passes, and a few leads. Late in the set, Sophomore Setter Charlena Mackey served three straight points, and tied the score at 18. The Knights would go on and win the set, and win the match as well. 

In the loss, the Cougars were led by Sophomore Outside Hitter Kalifa Roberts with five kills on 17 total attacks. The Trinidadian added seven digs. Senior Outside Hitter Kiwelewa Mlimengu tallied four kills on 12 total attacks. The Brooklyn, NY native added two digs. Junior Setter AnnMarie Bemberry dished out seven assists. Mount Saint Mary in the win, was led by Maribeth Powers with seven kills. 

The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday October 11, 2014, when they play the United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners and the Manhattanville College Valiants. The matches will take place at USMMA in King's Point, NY. First match is 2:00 pm against the host Mariners, followed by a 4:00 pm match with the Valiants.
