COUGARS FALL TO STATEN ISLAND IN MEN'S BASKETBALL SEASON FINALE

Box Score Staten Island, NY- The Medgar Evers College Men's Basketball Team fell to the College of Staten Island Dolphins 111-65 earlier tonight. This marked the last game of the 2013-14 season. The Dolphins improve to 23-2 Overall and 16-0 CUNYAC while the Cougars finish their season at 2-23 Overall and 1-15 Overall.

The Cougars led early 2-0, and tied the game twice (4-4 at 18:01 left in the 1st half, and 6-6 with 17:20 left in the half). CSI would go on 7-0 run, and not look back. The lone brightspot was the Cougars shot better than the Dolphins from the free throw line (78.3% compared to 65%).

In the loss, the Cougars were led by Junior Forward/Center and Co-Captain Valin Williams with 17pts (5-8 FT-FTA). The Brooklyn native grabbed 13 rebounds which marked his 10th double double of the season. He added two steals. Junior Guard Khalid Yousef scored 15pts (3-5 FT-FTA). The Queens, NY native grabbed a rebound, and dished out an assist.

In the win, the Dolphins were led by Bloochy Magloire with 29pts. Five other Dolphins scored in double digits including: Jonathan Chadwick Myers (16pts), Javon Cox (12pts), Will Fonseca and Thomas Delaharty (11pts apiece), and Dylan Bulger with 10pts.

This marks the end of the 2013-14 season for the Cougars. There were some positive highlights this season with Valin Williams being nationally ranked in Division III Men's Basketball, in the following categories: #1 in Rebounds Per Game (12 times this season), and #1 in Total Rebounds (15 times this season).

There were no Seniors so we will see what happens with the Men's Basketball program, when we resume in November 2014.
