Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Medgar Evers College Men's Soccer team defeated the York College Cardinals 2-1 earlier today. The win improves the Cougars record to (4-4, 2-2 CUNYAC), while the Cardinals drop to (4-6, 2-1 CUNYAC).
The Cougars got on the scoreboard first, when Junior Forward
Zeakiel Daley scored his 7th goal and 15th point of the season in the 14th minute. Both teams tallied shots and York outshot Medgar Evers College 11-8 in the 1st half. Daley almost had his 2nd goal, but was blocked by a York student-athlete.
In the 2nd half, the Cougars increased the pressure in order to build on their lead. They tallied five shots in the half. York College would tie the game at 1, when Wilmer Yunga scored in the 50th minute. The Cougars would tally two shots after the goal, but one was the game winner. Denzel Sebastian scored off a deflected header from
Osondu Esonwune. This was Sebastian's 1st goal of the season.
For the goalies, Sophomore
Kedric Flemius played all 90 minutes, giving up a goal, and carouling nine saves. His counterpart Mohamed Elbarbary played all 90 minutes, giving up two goals, and making six saves.
The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday October.1, 2014, when they travel to Upper Manhattan, and take on the Baruch College Bearcats. Game time is 5:00pm and will take place at Randall's Island Field #10.
