Staten Island, NY- The Men's Basketball team fell to the College of Staten Island Dolphins 76-67 earlier today. The Dolphins improve to 10-5 overall and 6-2 CUNYAC, while the Cougars drop to 2-13 overall and 1-7 CUNYAC.
The Dolphins led wire to wire. Although the Cougars never led, they fought very hard, and at times were a point away from taking the lead. The Cougars shot 41.3% from the field, 27.3% from 3pt. range, and 60% from the free throw line. In the loss, Medgar Evers College was led by Junior Guard
Matt Walker who scored a game high 26pts (10-15 FG-FGA, 1-2 3pt. FG-FGA, and 5-10 FT-FTA). Matt grabbed five rebounds, dished out two assists, and added a block. Freshman Guard
Reynaldo Eloy scored 11pts (3-11 FG-FGA, 2-6 3pt. FG-FGA, and 3-4 FT-FTA). Junior Guard
Zavier Coston scored 10pts (4-6 FT-FTA), and Senior Forward and the teams' co-captain
Valin Williams scored 10pts and grabbed 15 rebounds. This is his 7th double-double of the season. CSI was led by Will Fonseca with 23pts. Three other student-athletes score din double figures including the following: Thomas Delahanty (13pts), Frank Schettino (10pts), and Edin Bracic (10pts).
The Cougars will be back in action on Monday, January. 19, 2015, when they travel to Madison, NJ and take on the Drew University Rangers. Tip-off will be at 3:00pm.
