Box Score Madison, NJ- The Men's Basketball team fell to the Drew University Rangers 85-65 earlier today. The Rangers improve to 9-8 overall while the Cougars drop to 2-14 overall.
The Cougars took an early 2-0 lead, when Senior Forward/Center
Valin Williams nailed a jumper in the paint. Drew University would go on a 6-0 run, and never give up the lead again. The Cougars cut the lead to a single basket twice.
In the loss, the Cougars were led by Co-Captain
Valin Williams with 14pts (7-14 FG-FGA and 0-2 FT-FTA). The Brooklyn native grabbed a game high 13 rebounds, (8th double-double of the season), dished out an assist, and swiped away three shots. Junior
Pablo Segura scored 11pts (5-10 FG-FGA and 1-4 3pt. FG-FGA), grabbed two rebounds, and dished out an assist. Junior Guard
Matt Walker scored 10pts (4-9 FG-FGA, 0-1 3pt. FG-FGA, and 2-6 FT-FTA). The Brooklyn, NY native grabbed two rebounds, dished out an assist, and added a steal.
In the win, Drew University was led by Mike Klinger with 20pts. Three other student-athletes scored in double-figures including the following: Jason Huelbig (18pts), Ozan Yucetape (14pts), and Brian McLaughlin (11pts).
The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday, January. 21, 2015, when they travel to Jamaica, NY, and play the York College Cardinals. Game time is 7:00 pm.
