Bronx, NY- The Men's Basketball team fell to the Lehman College Lightning 84-66 earlier today. The Lightning improves to 12-7, 7-3 CUNYAC while the Cougars drop to 2-16, 1-9 CUNYAC.
The Cougars started off 3-0, via a 3pt. shot from Freshman Guard
Reynaldo Eloy. After Lehman scored a pair of buckets and took the lead, Eloy would follow up with a running layup, giving the Cougars a 5-4. Lehman would regain the lead and hold it for the remaining of the game. The Cougars would stay close with the Lightning, and tied the score just once at 28. Medgar Evers College was only down seven points at the half, 37-30. Lehman would outscore the Cougars 47-36 in the 2nd half. For the game, the Cougars shot 38.2% from the field, 41.2% from 3pt. range, and 70.8% from the free throw line. Lehman College shot 54.1% from the field, 38.1% from 3pt. range, and 83.3% from the free throw line.Â
In the loss, the Cougars were led by Senior Forward/Center and Co-Captain
Valin Williams who scored 17pts (6-9 FG-FGA and 5-7 FT-FTA). Valin grabbed a game high 10 rebounds, which game him his 10th double-double of the season. Williams dished out an assist, swiped away a shot, and added a steal. Junior Guard
Kyle Sierra scored a season high 17pts (5-15 FG-FGA, 4-8 3pt. FG-FGA, and 3-4 FT-FTA). Kyle grabbed a pair of rebounds, dished out an assist, and added a steal. Junior Guard
Mark Hudson scored 10pts (2-6 FG-FGA and 6-6 FT-FTA). Mark grabbed three rebounds, dished out two assists, swiped away a shot, and added a steal. In the win, Lehman was led by Jonathan Greenfield with 26pts. Three other student athletes scored in double figures, including the following: Chaun Miller (17pts), Olando Minott (17pts), and John Brens (11pts).
The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday, January. 28, 2015, when they play the Saint Joseph's College of Brooklyn. The Cougars will play at the St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn. Game time is 5:30 pm. Â
