Brooklyn, NY- The Men's Basketball team fell to the St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn Bears 88-71 earlier tonight. The Bears improve to 13-7 overall while the Cougars drop to 2-17.
The Cougars got on the board first, when Junior Guard
Mark Hudson nailed a jumper from 20ft away. St. Joseph's College would take the lead, and hold it for nearly 15 minutes. The Cougars stayed within a nine points from the lead. With 5:40 left in the 1st half, Freshman Guard
Reynaldo Eloy, converted on a 3pt. shot, tying the score at 20. Both teams would swap the leads for a three rminutes, before the Cougars finished the half on a 6-2 run. They would lead 36-34 at the half. In the 2nd half, once again, both teams swaped the lead. The Bears took over for good, nearly three minutes in, and outscored the Cougars 54-35. For the game, the Cougars shot 38.4% from the field, 31.8% from 3pt. range, and 72.7% from the free throw line. The Bears shot 47.9% from the field, 48% from 3pt. range, and 57.1% from the free throw line.
In the loss, the Cougars were led by Junior Guard
Kyle Sierra with 23pts (9-19 FG-FGA, 3-10 3pt. FG-FGA, and 2-3 FT-FTA). Kye grabbed three rebounds, dished out two assists, and two steals. Freshman Guard
Reynaldo Eloy scored 14pts (5-17 FG-FGA, 3-8 3pt. FG-FGA, and 1-1 FT-FTA). Reynaldo grabbed five rebounds and added two steals. Junior Guard
Pablo Segura scored 13pts (4-7 FG-FGA, 1-2 3pt. FG-FGA, and 4-5 FT-FTA). Pablo grabbed five rebounds, dished out five assists, and added a team high three steals. In the win, the Bears were led by Michael Megafu with 24pts. Greg Beehler scored 15pts and David Louison scored 14pts.
The Cougars will be back in action on Friday, January. 30, 2015, when they travel to Manhattan, NY and play the Baruch College Bearcats. Tip-off will be 7:30 pm.
