Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Medgar Evers women's volleyball dropped a non-conference decision on the road to borough rival St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) in straight sets, [5-25, 9-25, 8-25], Saturday afternoon at Frank P. Carbone Court at the Hill Center.

Kalifa Roberts (San Fernando, Trinidad/La Romain Secondary) had a team-high five kills along with six digs in a losing effort for the Cougars (0-15). AnnMarie Bemberry (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fashion Industries) had four assists to go with two kills and a team-best eight digs, while Naomi Chandler (Port of Spain, Trinidad/Bishop Antsey) dished off three assists.

Lauren GaNun led the Lady Bears (5-7) with 10 kills in the win, while Anna Carbone had 14 assists to go with seven digs. Crystal Morgan topped all players with eight service aces, and Nina Dicioccio chipped in with six kills and six digs.

St. Joseph's ran out to a quick start on in the first set, scoring eight of the first nine points of the contest. Roberts added two kills in the stanza, but the Lady Bears with six straight points to move up 16-3 and eventually take the set 25-5. In set two, Medgar Evers would show resiliency by jumping ahead two points thanks to a few St. Joseph's errors along with a Bemberry kill.

Tied at 7-7 apiece, the Lady Bears would pull away with a 10-1 run. Morgan would close out the set with three of her eight aces in a 25-9 decision. In the final set, GaNun and Morgan would dominate the Cougars in the early part of the set to go up 11-3 before a timeout. Ten straight points by the Lady Bears all but sealed the victory for them in straight sets.
