Hot Shooting Helps Men's Basketball Beat Bard College, 80-64

Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Matthew Lee (Bloomfield, N.J./Westtown) tallied a double-double with a team-high 39 points and 11 rebounds as the Medgar Evers men's basketball team defeated Bard College, 80-64, Thursday night at the Cougars Cave.

The senior guard was efficient in leading the scoring attack, shooting 15-for-24 from the field, and also dished off a team-best four assists for the Cougars (4-6) as they snapped a two-game losing skid. Freshman Andron Thomas (Brooklyn, N.Y./Thomas Jefferson) came within a rebound shy of a double-double, with 18 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.

Zavier Coston (Brooklyn, N.Y./George Westinghouse) added 11 points, while Damani Guscott (Brooklyn, N.Y./Hoosac) corralled 10 boards in the victory.

For the Raptors (3-3), Tim Quashie paced the team with 17 points, while DeVahnte Mosley provided an all-around game of 12 points, 11 assists and seven boards in a losing effort. Caleb LaRosa chipped in with 11 points, while Brandon Cunningham grabbed 11 rebounds.

Medgar Evers played stifling defense against Bard the entire game, holding them to just 31.2% shooting from the field including 29.4% in the second half. The Cougars shot an even 50% (14-for-28) in the second half and finished shooting at a 47.5% clip for the game. They also controlled the glass, owning a 52-41 edge.

This was the final game before the Christmas break for the team, with their next game taking place December 30th at the Cougars Cave against DeSales University. Tip time is set for 3:00 p.m.
