Box Score BRONX, N.Y. – The Medgar Evers men's basketball team allowed an early first-half run and never could get back into the game as they lost to Lehman College, 90-76, Friday night in CUNYAC play at the APEX Main Gym.

CUNYAC Rookie of the Week
Andron Thomas (Brooklyn, N.Y./Thomas Jefferson) poured in 18 points and secured eight rebounds for the Cougars (3-6, 1-1 CUNYAC).
Matthew Lee (Bloomfield, N.J./Westtown) added 18 points and six rebounds, while
Maurice Swaby II (Brooklyn, N.Y./Grand Street Campus) poured in 11 points.

Damani Guscott (Brooklyn, N.Y./Hoosac) and
Zavier Coston (Brooklyn, N.Y./George Westinghouse) chipped in with eight points apiece in a losing effort.

Olando Minott topped three Lightning (5-2, 2-0 CUNYAC) players in double figures, scoring a game-high 22 points to go with four assists and five rebounds. Chaun Miller netted 19 points, including drilling three triples, and five boards. Olusegun Williams scored 12 points and Andrew Utate tallied nine points with seven rebounds.

Lehman started the game with nine points in the first two minutes of play, and never trailed throughout. The Cougars would cut the deficit to seven points, but a 13-3 run help put the Lightning ahead up 49-33 at the end of the half. In the second half, Medgar Evers could not put runs together to get back into the game, as they would drop their first conference game of the season.

The Cougars shot 43.1% (25-58) for the game, including 50% in the second half, despite the loss. They also won the rebounding edge at 44-36 and poured in 16 second chance points, but allowed 32 points in the paint. The Lightning forced 28 Medgar Evers turnovers, which they turned into 32 points off those turnovers.

Next up for the team is their second straight CUNYAC matchup when they take on Brooklyn College as part of a doubleheader with the women's team Monday night. Tip-off for their game is 7:15 p.m.
