Box Score 2 Women's Volleyball Drop Both Matches at CSI Tri Match
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Oct. 10, 2016) – On Monday, the women's volleyball traveled to Staten Island for a CUNYAC tri match between the host, the College of Staten Island and Brooklyn College. The Lady Cougars were swept in both matches losing 3-0 first to Brooklyn and then losing 3-0 to CSI. With both losses, Medgar Evers falls to 0-20 (0-7 CUNYAC) on the year while Brooklyn College improves to 6-16 (4-3 CUNYAC) and CSI improves to 5-10 (3-3 CUNYAC).
In the first match against Brooklyn College, Medgar Evers was led by their two seniors
Naomi Chandler and
Kalifa Roberts. Chandler had a team high eight assists and two aces while Roberts added nine digs and six kills to her credit.
In the second match against CSI, the seniors led the way again. Roberts and Chandler both had seven digs on the match while sophomore
Charlena Mackey added six assists. Freshman
Adenike Akindude recorded five kills also.
Women's volleyball will be back in action Tuesday, October 11, at the Cougars' Cave when they take on St. Joseph's College at 7 p.m. for senior night where we will honor our seniors
Kalifa Roberts and
Naomi Chandler.
