Box Score 2 Women's Volleyball Drops Doubleheader at CSI
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Oct. 22, 2016) – On Saturday, the women's volleyball team traveled to the College of Staten Island for a tri match between the CSI Dolphins and New Jersey City University. Medgar Evers lost the first match to New Jersey City three sets to none then they lost their second match of the day to host CSI three sets to none also.
In the first match, freshman
Melisa Wright led the Lady Cougars with eight digs on the night while classmate
Adenike Akindude added three kills and two digs. Senior
Naomi Chandler recorded a team-high four assists on the match. Medgar Evers lost 25-12, 25-5, and 25-10 in the three sets.
In the second match, senior
Naomi Chandler tallied a team-high 10 digs, and eight assists in the match while adding five aces to her credit. Classmate
Kalifa Roberts recorded nine digs and seven kills for the Lady Cougars. Medgar Evers lost 25-15, 25-18, 25-14 in the three sets.
With both losses, Medgar Evers falls to 0-25 on the year (0-9 CUNYAC) while New Jersey City improves to 13-12 and CSI improves to 7-14 (3-4 CUNYAC). Women's volleyball will be back in action on Tuesday, October 25, as they travel to conference rival Lehman College for a CUNYAC matchup starting at 7 p.m.
