Lee Secures CUNYAC Player of the Week Accolade After Historic Performance

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – For his historic performance this past week, Medgar Evers senior guard Matthew Lee (Bloomfield, N.J.) was named as the CUNYAC Player of the Week, as announced by the conference website Monday afternoon.

This is the second time he has won this award during the 2015-16 campaign, and is the fourth time the Cougars (8-12, 5-6 CUNYAC) earned a weekly men's basketball honor this season.

Lee had a career night by scoring 50 points as the Medgar Evers men's basketball team used their high-powered offense in a 98-83 victory over Baruch in their lone game this week. The senior shot 17-of-22 from the field, including 5-of-6 from three-point range and tallied 11 out of 12 from the charity stripe to snap the team's four game losing streak.  He also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out four assists in the victory.

The senior now has a scoring average of 29.9 points per game, which leads both the CUNYAC and NCAA Division III.

Up next for the Cougars is a conference matchup against Hunter College on the road Tuesday night as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.
