Box Score Women's Volleyball Swept in Doubleheader
BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Sep. 10, 2016) – On Saturday, the women's volleyball team took on York College and Baruch College in a CUNYAC doubleheader. Medgar Evers fought hard but lost in straight sets to the Cardinals in match one. In match two, Medgar Evers struggled in the first two sets however they competed hard and managed to play a respectable third set. With both losses, women's volleyball falls to 0-4 and 0-2 in CUNYAC play, while York College improves to 2-3 and Baruch improves to an even 3-3 on the year.
In the first match against York, freshman
Adenike Akindude led the team with 10 kills and eight digs while senior
Kalifa Roberts added six digs and sophomore
Charlena Mackey recorded nine assists. The Lady Cougars pushed York College to the limit in the third set but could not complete the comeback.
In the second match against Baruch freshman
Melisa Wright tallied a team-high seven digs while senior
Kalifa Roberts recorded two kills and a block.
Women's volleyball will be back in action on Wednesday, September 14, against Western Connecticut State. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. in Danbury, Conn.
