Box Score Men's Basketball Loses 99-72 to CSI in CUNYAC Matchup
 
(BROOKLYN, N.Y.) – The Medgar Evers men's basketball team hosted the Dolphins of Staten Island in a CUNYAC matchup at the Cougars' Cave on Friday night. Medgar Evers was unable to slow down the CSI offense in the first half and struggled to get anything going offensively in the second half. The Cougars eventually lost by a final score of 99-72. With the loss, Medgar Evers falls to 3-7 (2-3 CUNYAC) while CSI improves to 8-6 (6-0) on the season.
 
            The Cougars had a seven point lead with 13 minutes left in the first half but that was the last time they would be in front. CSI pushed the pace and made nice passes which led to easy buckets. As a team Medgar Evers shot 22-65 (34%) for the game with just nine assists on the 22 made field goals. Defensively the Cougars struggled at times allowing passes from near half court all the way to low box leading to easy layups for CSI.  
 
            The Cougars were led by junior guard Maurice Swaby II (Brooklyn, N.Y) who had a team-high 21 points to go along with six rebounds. Sophomore guards Justin Sutton (Brooklyn, N.Y) and Joancarlo Bonilla (Woodside, N.Y.) both added double figure scoring. Sutton had 14 while Bonilla had 13 himself.
 
            CSI was led by Frank Schettino who had himself a triple-double including a game-high 17 assists. Men's basketball is back in action Monday, January 9^th when they host to CCNY for a CUNYAC matchup beginning at 8 p.m.
