Box Score Men's Basketball Falls 90-78 to Baruch on Senior Night
(BROOKLYN, N.Y.) – The Medgar Evers men's basketball team hosted the Bearcats of Baruch College on senior night in a CUNYAC matchup at the Cave. The Cougars could not complete the comeback losing by a final score of 90-78. With the loss, Medgar Evers falls to 4-19 (3-12 CUNYAC) while Baruch improves to 16-8 (9-6) on the year.
Medgar Evers played a solid first half as they moved the ball well creating open shots for teammates. As a team the Cougars shot 12-27 (44%) and they assisted on 8 of those 12 makes. As the half progressed the Bearcats started to use the pick and roll to create opportunities pushing their lead to 14 as they led 47-33 at the break.
Medgar Evers got off to a hot start in the second half going on an 15-7 run to cut the deficit to six. Baruch responded with an 8-0 of their own as they pushed their lead back to double digits and never looked back on their way to victory.
Medgar Evers was led by their sharp shooting backcourt, sophomore guard
Justin Sutton (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and junior guard
Maurice Swaby II (Brooklyn, N.Y.). Both guards knocked down five threes and scored 20 points a piece. Sutton led the way with 27 on 9-18 shooting to go along with six boards and two steals. Swaby II added 21 and nine assists while no other players scored in double-figures.
