Box Score Men's Basketball Struggles on the Road at Lehman in 95-39 Loss
(BRONX, N.Y.) – The Medgar Evers men's basketball visited the Lightning of Lehman College in a CUNYAC matchup on Tuesday night. The Cougars struggled as a team losing by a final score of 95-39. With the loss, Medgar Evers falls to 4-18 (3-11 CUNYAC) while Lehman improves to 15-8 (10-4) on the year.
The Lightning were on fire from the first half. Majority of the shots they took touched the bottom of the net as they ended up tallying 56 points in the first half while shooting 20-29 (69%) from the field. The Cougars did not get off to a good start as they allowed Lehman to open the game on a 12-2 run. They were able to score the first field goal of the game but were not able to keep it going after that. Medgar Evers finished the half with 22 points on 7-32 (22%) shooting.
Lehman started the second half just how they ended the first as they were in control the whole half. The Cougars struggled in the second half as well as turning the ball over 17 times. Their shots weren't able to fall shooting just 25% in the half and as a result could not get back into the game.
Medgar Evers was led by sophomore guard
Joancarlo Bonila (Woodside, N.Y.) who scored eight points and added five rebounds. Lehman was led by
Andrew Utate,
Luis Hernandez, and
Damien Bellamy who all scored 14 points each. Men's Basketball is back in action February 10
th where they will host Baruch at 8 p.m.
