Kenia Irish-Bramble continues dominant freshman campaign, earning third CUNYAC Rookie of the Week honor

For the third time during the 2023 campaign, Medgar Evers women's cross country standout Kenia Irish-Bramble has been selected the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week.

Irish-Bramble earned her latest accolade thanks to her standout performance this past Sunday at Medgar Evers' inaugural Legacy Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. In the women's 6K meet, Irish-Bramble placed third amongst runners representing senior colleges, and fifth overall, with a time of 28:50.2. That time served as a personal-best for the rookie. Following the announcement of the award, Head Coach Hugh Reid gave his thoughts.

"If the word determination was a person, it would be Kenia Irish-Bramble," Reid said. "She has consistently put forth diligent efforts throughout this 2023 campaign, and this past Sunday at our Legacy Invitational was no exception. For her efforts, Kenia has now been saluted by the CUNY Athletic Conference on three occasions. It's an amazing accomplishment for a terrific young athlete, and she continues to improve leading up to conference and postseason competition. I look forward to seeing what she has in store for us next."

The Medgar Evers women's cross country team will return to course on Sunday morning, traveling to Van Cortlandt Park for the 2023 CUNYAC Championship meet. Start-time for the women's 6K meet is scheduled for 9:30am.
