Box Score Brooklyn, NY- On Thursday Sept. 13, 2012, the Medgar Evers College Women's Volleyball team played in their home opener against The King's College of New York Lions. The Lions defeated Medgar Evers 3-0 (25-11, 25-9, and 25-21). The win improved their record to 2-1 Overall while the Cougars of MEC dropped to 0-5 Overall.
Both teams rallied back in forth, with The King's College taking the first 2 sets. In the 3
rd set, Medgar Evers was down 17-10, when Junior
Catheline Joseph converted 9 straight points giving the Cougars the lead at 19-10. The Lions would tie the score at 19 and again at 21, before pulling away for the match win.
In the loss, Medgar Evers College was led by Junior
Janiece Hill. Hill tallied 5 kills on 20 total attacks, 6 digs, and a blocking assist. Junior
Catheline Joseph added 3 kills, a service ace, 5 digs, and 2 blocking assists. Freshman
Ava-Loi Anderson tallied a season high 2 kills to go with 2 digs. Sophomore
AnnMarie Bemberry contributed with 2 assists.
In the win, The King's College Lions were led by Hannah Eckart with 5 kills as well as Alexandra Rollis and Abigail Murray with 5 service aces a piece.
Medgar Evers College will be back in action on Saturday Sept. 15, 2012 when they travel to Rosemont, PA to play in a multi match. The first match pits them against Trinity University of DC at 1pm, followed by the home team Rosemont College at 3pm.
