Box Score 2 BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Medgar Evers men's soccer team dropped a 9-0 decision against CUNYAC foe Brooklyn College Saturday afternoon at Kingsborough Community College, then fell to Manhattanville College 7-1 Monday night at the Aviator Sports Complex.
In the loss Saturday, Medgar Evers was only able to muster one shot from
Zeakiel Daley (Bronx, N.Y./Martin Van Buren).
Cousteau Pierre (Carrefour, Haiti/Prospect Heights) filled in as goalkeeper, and made eight stops on net. Marco Thimm-Kaiser and Ezike Somtochukwu each secured a hat trick for the Bulldogs (4-5-1), while John K. Luc added two scores in the win.
For the Cougars (2-9) on Monday,
Lorenzo Pierre-Louis (Delmas, Haiti/Carnarsie) secured the only goal of the game for the team in the second half.
Dave Henry (Carrefour, Haiti/Carnarsie) distributed the assist for the goal, while he and
Shakeel Warrick (Port of Spain, Trinidad/George Westinghouse) each made four saves in goal in a losing effort.
Hugo Landberg netted two goals and an assist in the victory for the Valiants (6-4-1). Both Oskar Martinnson and Jesper Hjalm each dished off three assists, while Kevin O'Reilly added a goal and an assist.
Manhattanville controlled the offensive attack to start the first, firing 21 shots including 10 on goal in the half. The Valiants got on the board twice in a matter of two minutes, with two outstanding headers from Jefferson Santos & Michael Jean-Charles. They would add a third goal by Steve Singson along with a Landberg. O'Reilly would drill a penalty kick at 36:53 to put them up 5-0 heading into halftime.
Medgar Evers had a couple of nice offensive chances to start the second half, which was capped off with L. Pierre-Louis notching the team's lone goal from Henry. But both Eddie Silber and Landberg would respond with goals to seal the victory for Manhattanville.
The Cougars will look to snap the losing streak when they return to action Wednesday, when they take on CUNYAC opponent John Jay. Start time is set for 3:30 p.m. at the Aviator Sports Complex.
