The City University of New York Athletic Conference announced its end-of-year awards for the 2022-2023 women's indoor track & field season, and the Medgar Evers women's indoor track and field team was represented by freshman Nana Samake, as the Brooklyn, NY native earned an All-Star distinction, while also being selected to the Sportsmanship team.

Samake, a dual-sport athlete at Medgar Evers, turned in a solid performance in the 800 Meter Run, finishing in second place by crossing the line in 2:45.54. Following the announcement of Samake's accolades, Head Coach Alphonso Dance spoke glowingly about the young dasher.

"While we continue the process of redeveloping and revitalizing the track and field programs here at Medgar Evers, Nana has established herself as one of the cornerstones of our women's teams," Dance said. "She is tremendously confident and motivated in her athletic and academic endeavors, and I'm looking forward to seeing her continue to accomplish amazing feats."

After starring during the indoor season, Samake will now look ahead to making an impact during the 2023 outdoor track and field season, which begins Saturday, March 25th.
