Men's Cross Country's Xavier Bigham tabbed CUNYAC Rookie of the Week

The City University of New York Athletic Conference announced the weekly award winners for men's cross country for the period of Monday, October 6 through Sunday, October 12, and the Cougars were represented by Xavier Bingham, as the standout was tabbed as the conference's Rookie of the Week thanks to his standout performance at the WCU Golden Ram Invitational this past Saturday (October 11). Following the announcement of the distinction, Head Coach Hugh Reid spoke about his standout newcomer.

"Xavier is a hard-working student-athlete who has been working diligently to help the team to the best of his abilities," Reid said. "He went out this past Saturday and gave it his all, shocking many people in the process. We know that he has a lot of work to do, but once he finds his way and develops a strategy towards approaching these meets, we believe he can be a primary contributor not only during this 2025 campaign, but beyond."

Bingham placed fifth in a field of 59 runners at the West Chester Golden Ram Invitational this past Saturday, running a 5K time of 16:20.7 to set a Medgar Evers record.

The Cougars will return to action on Sunday morning, as Medgar Evers will travel to the Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, NY to compete in the Mount Saint Mary College (NY) Fall Festival. Start-time is scheduled for 11:00am.
