Head Coach Hugh Reid, four student-athletes nominated for 2024-2025 USTFCCCA Regional Awards

Following their record-setting, championship-earning 2024-2025 seasons, members of the indoor track and field teams have been nominated for USTFCCCA Regional awards. Head Coach Hugh Reid has been nominated for Coach of the Year honors for both genders, while four student-athletes have been submitted for consideration, including Toshel Goffe (Female Track Athlete of the Year), Aaliyah Bartholomew (Female Field Athlete of the Year), Reco Griffith (Male Track Athlete of the Year), and Omari Hinds (Male Field Athlete of the Year). Below is a breakdown of Medgar Evers' nominees and their accomplishments during the '24-'25 campaign:

Hugh Reid (Women's Coach of the Year)

- Led Cougars to second consecutive CUNYAC championship
- Under Reid's tutelage, the program set 14 school records in various events, and the Cougars dominated the Indoor championships, and finished 14th out of 55 schools at the AARTFC Regional Championships
- Reid's team was ranked #1 by the USTFCCCA in the CUNYAC rankings with 591.34 points
- Coach Reid's team boasted 36 CUNYAC qualifiers from just 17 student-athletes
- Out of 27 CUNYAC weekly awards distributed, Medgar Evers captured 19 of them

Hugh Reid (Men's Coach of the Year)

- Led Cougars to second consecutive CUNYAC championship
- Under Coach Reid's Tutelage, the team broke 13 school records, while also setting two CUNYAC records
- Reid's team was ranked #1 by the USTFCCCA in the CUNYAC rankings with 711.61 points
- The Cougars boasted 23 CUNYAC qualifiers under Reid's tutelage
- Out of 27 CUNYAC weekly awards distributed, Medgar Evers captured 21 of them
 
Toshel Goffe (Female Track Athlete of the Year)
 
- CUNYAC leader in the 60m, 200m, and 4x400 relay events
- School record holder in the 55m (7.28), 60m (7.77), and 200m (25.56#).
- USTFCCCA National Rankings: No. 45 (60m) and No. 96 (200m)
- Posted three victories at CUNYAC championships: 60-meter dash (7.78), 200-meter dash (24.86) and 400-meter dash (1:00.29). Goffe was also a member of the Cougars' winning 4x400 relay (4:23.98).
At the AARTFC championships, she set a new school record in the 200-Meter Dash (24.75s)
 
Aaliyah Bartholomew (Female Field Athlete of the Year)
 
- Medgar Evers College record holder in the 60m Hurdles, Long Jump, and Pentathlon
- Top-5 rankings in six additional events including the High Jump, Triple Jump and the Shot Put
- Ranked No. 92 nationally in the pentathlon
- At the CUNYAC Championship meet, she won the high jump for the Cougars (1.39 meters) and was second in the long jump (4.72) and the 60-meter hurdles (personal-best time of 9.84 seconds).
 
Reco Griffith (Male Track Athlete of the Year)
 
- CUNYAC leader in the 60-Meter Dash, (6.90), 200-Meter Dash (21.87#), and 4x400 relay (3:26.59#)
- Owns school records in the 200m, 4x200 relay (1:31.64#) and 4x400 relay.
- AARTFC Regional qualifier in the 60m, 200m, and 4x200 relay
- USTFCCCA Regional Rankings: No. 7 (60m), No. 9 (200m), No. 18 (4x400 relay)
- National Rankings: No. 46 (60m), No. 58 (200m)
- CUNYAC Championships - claimed first place in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dash events
- 1st Team All-Region - Men's 60m Dash
 
Omari Hinds (Male Field Athlete of the Year)
 
- Ranked No. 1st in CUNYAC in the Long Jump, 4th in the Triple Jump, and 4th in High Jump
- AARTFC REGIONAL qualifier in the long jump (6.74m)
- USTFCCCA Ranked him No. 7 in the region, No. 115 nationally for the Long Jump. He is also ranked No. 34 regionally in the Triple Jump (11.94m).
- School record holder in the Long Jump (6.74m).
- At CUNYAC Championships, he claimed gold in the high jump (PR of 1.75) and the long jump (7.10 meters). His Long Jump score was an MEC and CUNY record
