- Coming into the CUNYAC championships, Washington ranked No. 150 nationally in the Heptathlon and 6th in the Region. He competes in multiple events and is ranked ninth in the 60m, 2nd in the 60mh, LJ 5th, TJ 5th, SP 11th, HJ 2nd, PV 2nd in CUNYAC.

- Washington balances his athletic commitments with an internship with the Office of Communications, where he offers his art, his writing and his insight into creating better bonds with students not only on campus, and caretaking responsibilities for his ill mother.

- This Sportsmanship Award recipient endures more than 75 minutes on the subway just to get to school and then the same ride back after late-night practices in the basement of the Carroll Street Building at Medgar Evers College. He does it all with a smile and a subtle humor that makes everyday a bit better for those around him — and puts in the effort that both seniors and freshmen are happy to follow.
