Men's Outdoor Track & Field

Men's Outdoor Track & Field team captures 2025 CUNYAC title; Women's team claims second place

The Medgar Evers Cougars reached the top of the outdoor track and field mountain once again, capturing the 2025 CUNYAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship at Icahn Stadium by scoring a whopping 273 points. The Cougars captured the championship in dominating fashion, finishing 103 points ahead of second place Hunter (166 points). CCNY followed in third (63 points), and York (26 points) rounded out the field.

Coming off a dominant indoor season that resulted in the program's second consecutive league title under the guidance of head coach Hugh Reid, Medgar Evers rode that momentum into the outdoor campaign and solidified its second straight CUNYAC outdoor crown.

Medgar Evers' women's team put forth a hearty effort in an attempt to make it a clean sweep of the outdoor championships, but the Cougars had to settle as the runners-up, coming in second place to champion Hunter College. The Hawks claimed the outdoor title by scoring 227 points, while the Cougars finished close behind, with 213. CCNY (106), Lehman (26) and York (6) rounded out the field.

Men's Meet Highlights

The Cougars won a total of 11 events on the afternoon and set three CUNYAC championship records.  The men's 4x100 relay, consisting of Jahiem Johnson, Reco Griffith, Zion Young and Omari Hinds, captured the event in 42.54 seconds, breaking the record of 42.67 seconds set by Kingsborough CC in 2009.
