The Medgar Evers College Indoor Track & Field program continued its 2026 campaign with another statement performance at the Coast Guard Academy Winter Invitational #1, hosted by the United States Coast Guard Academy. Competing against a strong and diverse field that included University of New Haven, Farmingdale State, Connecticut College, and Westfield State, the Cougars once again proved they belong among top Division II and III programs. Despite the fact that this was an undersized track, Medgar Evers demonstrated exceptional poise, grit, and competitive maturity across all event groups. The Cougars produced an impressive collection of CUNYAC qualifying marks, AARTFC regional qualifiers, school records, personal bests, and all-time program performances, continuing the momentum built earlier in the season.

Quote from Coach Reid:

"This week really tested our fortitude as a team," Reid said. "We had to dig deep—mentally and physically. Some of our student-athletes who put in the work over winter break are starting to see the rewards, while others are still finding their rhythm and working themselves into competitive shape. We've spent a lot of time training the mind as much as the body, and this weekend was a true test of that preparation."

Notable Performer for the Women: Brianna Lindo

Lindo dominated the track events with an elite, multi-event performance. She placed 2nd in the 600 meters (1:53.57) and 2nd in the 55-meter hurdles, where her time of 8.76 earned a CUNYAC qualifier and set a new Medgar Evers College school record. Lindo also earned a CUNYAC qualifier and personal best in the 55 meters (7.75) and contributed to both the 2nd-place DMR and 2nd-place 4x200m relay, the latter earning an AARTFC regional qualifying mark.

In the field events, Lindo delivered an exceptional multi-event performance in the field, placing among the top competitors across four different disciplines. In the high jump, Lindo finished 6th overall, clearing 1.53 meters (5'0.25"), earning a CUNYAC qualifying mark and recording the #3 all-time performance in Medgar Evers College history. She also competed in the long jump, placing 13th with a mark of 4.37 meters (14'1.25").

Lindo placed 10th in the triple jump, recording a personal best of 9.39 meters (30'9.75"), and continued her success in the throws by placing 15th in the weight throw with a personal-best distance of 9.65 meters (31'8"), which ranks #5 all-time in MEC program history. She rounded out her field performance by competing in the shot put, finishing 20th with a personal best of 7.23 meters (23'8.75"). Lindo's ability to place, set personal bests, and earn program all-time marks across jumps and throws underscores her exceptional versatility and competitive impact.
