The Medgar Evers College Track & Field program opened the 2026 outdoor season with a strong showing at the Army Open, hosted by Army West Point. Competing against Division I and II programs including Fordham, Molloy, Seton Hall, and Army, MEC battled through challenging weather conditions and rose to the occasion. The team displayed poise, depth, and resilience, producing multiple CUNYAC-qualifying marks and personal-best performances.

Quote from Coach Reid

"This meet showed us where we are—and more importantly, where we need to go", Reid said. "Competing against Division I and II programs is always a challenge, but our athletes stepped up and embraced it. They're learning, they're adjusting, and they're beginning to understand what it takes to compete at a high level.

At the same time, we're not satisfied. We have work to do. This group is still developing, still growing into new events and new expectations, and we're not going to settle for just showing up or being competitive. Our standard is to improve every single week.

The effort and mindset are there, and that's what matters most right now. If we stay committed to the process, continue to push each other, and stay disciplined in our preparation, this team has the potential to be very special."

In the field, Lindo continued her dominance, placing 5th in the high jump (1.48m), 9th in the long jump (4.80m), and 4th in the triple jump (10.61m)—all CUNYAC-qualifying marks.
