The Medgar Evers College Track & Field program continued its Outdoor 2026 campaign with a strong showing at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by American International College. Facing a competitive field of Division II and III programs including Bridgeport, Coast Guard, New Haven, Westfield State, Vermont State, Mount Holyoke, Hampshire College, and AIC, MEC battled through challenging cold-weather conditions and once again rose to the occasion. The team displayed poise, depth, and resilience throughout the meet, producing multiple CUNYAC qualifiers, regional qualifiers, and personal-best performances.

Quote from Coach Reid:

"We're seeing growth across the board, and that's important — but we're not satisfied," Reid said. "Our student-athletes are learning how to compete, how to adjust, and how to push themselves in uncomfortable conditions. That said, we still have another level to reach. The standard is consistency, execution, and accountability. We're building toward that, but we're not there yet — and we won't settle until we are."

Notable Performer for the Women: Brianna Lindo

Freshman Brianna Lindo delivered another exceptional all-around performance, impacting both track and field in a major way. On the track, she led the field in the 400m with a first-place finish in 1:01.07, a CUNYAC-qualifying time, and followed with a 2nd-place finish in the 800m in 2:32.13, also meeting the conference standard.

In the field, Lindo showcased her versatility across multiple events. She placed 2nd in the triple jump with a CUNYAC-qualifying mark of 10.50m, and 7th in the long jump with a mark of 4.50m. She also contributed in the throws, recording marks in the shot put (7.86m), javelin (9.45m), hammer (26.94m), and discus (10.72m). Her ability to compete across such a wide range of events continues to set her apart.
