Men's Outdoor Track & Field

Outdoor Track & Field wraps up 2026 regular season by sweeping CUNYAC weekly award distinctions (4/20-4/26)

The Medgar Evers College, Outdoor Track & Field teams dominated the CUNYAC awards distinctions for the period of April 20 through April April 26, as Brianna Lindo (Track Athlete of the Week, Field Athlete of the Week, & Rookie of the Week), Jahiem Johnson (Track Athlete of the Week), Omari Hinds (Field Athlete of the Week), and David Chisholm (Rookie of the Week) combined for six honors, making it a clean sweep for the Cougars this week.

All of the aforementioned distinctions were earned due to the student-athletes' stellar performance this past Friday (April 24) at the CCSU Blue Devil Invitational

Brianna Lindo delivered one of the most complete and demanding performances of the season, excelling across an extraordinary range of events. On the track, she set three personal and MEC school records, including 14.67 (2nd) in the 100m hurdles, and 1:00.14 (3rd) in the 400m—all meeting CUNYAC standards, with the hurdles event also qualifying for AARTFC regionals. In the field, she placed 2nd in the triple jump (10.46m) and 4th in the long jump (4.91m), while also recording a personal best in the shot put (8.96m).

Her ability to compete—and excel—across sprints, hurdles, jumps, and throws in a single weekend reflects elite versatility, endurance, and competitive excellence. Lindo's performance not only defines her as the top rookie of the week—it establishes her as one of the most impactful athletes in the conference, regardless of class.

Jahiem Johnson delivered a strong sprint performance, continuing to put himself among the premier sprinters in the conference, Johnson captured 19th place in the 100m (11.48),  and achieved CUNYAC qualifying standards. He followed with a 19th place finish in the 400m, (54.01).

Omari Hinds delivered another outstanding multi-event performance, showcasing elite versatility across both field and track disciplines. He placed 11th in the high jump (1.75m), meeting CUNYAC qualifying standards, and 4th in the long jump (6.45m), achieving a CUNYAC qualifier. Hinds' ability to consistently compete, score, and qualify across multiple disciplines solidifies his standing as one of the most dynamic field athletes in the conference.

David Chisholm delivered a breakout weekend, producing a Personal best performance at the CCSU Invitational, Chisolm ran a personal-best 2:21.02 in the 800m.

Now with a tremendous regular season under their belts, the Cougars' outdoor track and field teams will look towards the postseason, as this Saturday, May 2, they'll travel to Icahn Stadium to compete in the CUNYAC outdoor championships. The men's team will attempt to secure its third consecutive title, while the women will aim for their first conference crown in program history. Start-time for the event is scheduled for 9:00am.
