Medgar Evers College men's soccer rookie Shackoneal Myrurrie has been selected as the CUNYAC Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the period of Monday, September 7 through Sunday, September 13, the conference announced.

The weekly honor marks the second time this season that a Medgar Evers men's soccer player has earned a CUNYAC weekly award, further highlighting the Cougars' impressive start to the 2026 campaign.

Myrurrie enjoyed a spectacular week offensively, recording four goals and one assist while helping the Cougars remain unbeaten through their first four matches of the season.

The rookie turned in his biggest performance of the week on September 9, registering a hat trick and an assist in Medgar Evers' thrilling 5-3 comeback victory over St. Joseph's University Brooklyn. With the Cougars trailing 3-1, Myrurrie provided a crucial spark just before halftime, finding the back of the net to cut the deficit to one heading into the break.

Myrurrie continued to make his presence felt in the second half, scoring two more goals to complete his hat trick and propel the Cougars' comeback. He also assisted on another Medgar Evers goal as the Cougars scored four unanswered goals to secure the dramatic victory.

The freshman followed that performance by scoring another goal in Medgar Evers' victory over Five Towns College this past Saturday, giving him four goals over the course of the week.

Myrurrie has been instrumental in the Cougars' historic opening stretch. His offensive production has helped Medgar Evers race out to a 3-0-1 record, marking the best four-match start in program history. Through the opening four contests, the Cougars have established themselves as one of the early-season contenders in CUNYAC.

With Myrurrie leading the attack, Medgar Evers will look to continue its unbeaten start when the Cougars return to action on Thursday, September 17, for their home opener against York College. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the York Athletic Complex in Jamaica, N.Y.
