COUGARS FALL TO CARDINALS 3-1 IN MEN'S SOCCER

Brooklyn, NY- The Cougars Men's Soccer team played on Wednesday Oct.12, 2011 at the Aviator Sports Center in Brooklyn, NY against CUNYAC rival York College. The Cardinals beat the Cougars 3-1. The Cardinals improved to 5-11 Overall and 5-3 CUNYAC, while the Cougars dropped to 2-13 Overall and 1-4 CUNYAC.

The Cougars played aggressive early on the match. A couple of errors, caught up to them and York capitalized getting on the scoreboard first. In the 8th minute, Andre Adelson from York scored on a breakaway making it 1-0. The Cougars will get a couple of shots but none went into the net. York forced pressure near the penalty line and after Cardinals Oluwafemi Olasokan kicked a ball which was deflected back to him and then kicked again, this time going into the net in the 22nd minute, making the score 2-0. This was score to end the half. York outshot MEC 9-4.

In the 2nd half, MEC had turned up the chances to score tallying 14 shots compared to York's 4 shots. MEC only came away with a goal. In the 78th minute, Andre Adelson kicked a rainbow shot over the keeper of MEC Chris Welsh making the score 3-0. MEC would get on the board when Kyheo Farquharson received a pass from Mohamed Jalloh in the 79th minute, making the score 3-1.

For the goal keepers, MEC Chris Welsh played 90 minutes, gave up 3 goals and stopped 9 shots. York's keeper Pierreson Paul-Louis played 90 minutes, gave up a goal and made 10 saves.

The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday Oct.15, 2011 when they play the Baruch College Bearcats at the Aviator Sports Center in Brooklyn, NY. Game time is 12:30pm.
