MEC Men's Volleyball Falls to CUNYAC foe Hunter in CUNYAC/Emblem Health Tournament

New York, NY- The MEC Men's Volleyball team ended their season with a 3-0 loss to Hunter College in the CUNYAC/Emblem Health Tournament Quarter Finals on Tuesday March. 22, 2011. Hunter College won 25-0 due to a forfeit, 25-14, and 25-10. MEC entered as the 7 seed vs host Hawks which entered at 2. MEC finished the season at 4-22 Overall and 0-14 CUNYAC, while Hunter improves to 17-15 Overall and 12-2 CUNYAC.

After a 1st set forfeit due to the Cougars not having the minimum 6 players on the court, they kept the game close in both sets, but Hunter was too powerful and prevailed. The Cougars were led by Senior Kristoffer Morrison, who tallied 2 kills to go along with 5 digs and a solo block. Jeff Campbell, Jason Brown, and Lancedale Calderon each tallied a kill. Senior Phillip Parris led the team with 5 assists. Sophomore Olando Cummings led the team in solo blocks with 2.

The Hawks in the win were led by Eric Barty and John Gemegah with both tallying 6 kills.

The MEC Men's Volleyball team under 2nd year Head Coach Keegan Garcia, will look to improve in the 2012 season with the record.
