COUGARS DROP 1ST CONFERENCE GAME OF 2011 TO JOHN JAY

Maspeth, NY- The Cougars fell to the John Jay Bloodhounds 2-1 on Wednesday Sept. 14, 2011 at the Metropolitan Oval in Maspeth, NY. The Cougars dropped to 0-6 and 0-1 CUNYAC, while the Bloodhounds improved to 1-6-1, 1-0 CUNYAC. 

John Jay got on the board first, with a goal by Ganama Issouf in the 9th minute. About 8 minutes, later Korede Griffith scored for John Jay helped by 2 assists to make the score 2-0. The Cougars got on the board a little later in the half (22nd minute), when Stanley Ballantyne netted it pass the Bloodhound keeper Vitecha Vochaon. The goal was assisted by Mohamed Jalloh and James Maynard. Its Ballantyne's 2nd goal of the season. 

For the goal keepers, Cougars Christopher Welsh who started allowed 2 goals while 4 saves. Stanley Ballantyne, the lone goal scorer, stepped in net around the 86th minute and didn't make a save or allow a goal. Bloodhounds keeper Vitecha Vochaon gave up a goal and stopped 4 shots. The Cougars outshot John Jay 16-11.

The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday Sept. 17, 2011, when they play the Montclair St. Red Hawks, on the campus of Montclair St in Montclair, NJ. The game will kick off at 3pm.
