Bronx, NY- The MEC Cougars Men's Soccer squad to the Lehman College Lightning 2-0 on Sept. 21, 2011. The match was played under an on and off rain storm from heavy to light throughtout the night. Lehman got on the scoreboard first, when in the 22nd minute Oumar Niang assisted by Assami Valian making the score 1-0. The Cougars had a couple of chances to tie the game but the shots went high or wide.
In the 1st half, the Cougars were outshot 12-4 and keeper for the Cougars
Christopher Welsh made 3 saves while giving up a goal. In the 2nd half, both teams saw chances to score but miscues were present. The Lightning scored their 2nd goal of the game, when in the 81st minute Geovanny Arredondo shot the ball past keeper Chris Welsh.
For the keepers, Cougars Chris Welsh gave up a goal while making 10 saves. His counterpart Jhordan Cruz played the first 9 minutes and didn't see any balls come his way. Marcos Coto- Batres came on in relief playing 81 minutes and stopped 4 shots.
The Cougars were outshot 26-10 for the game. They fell to 0-9 Overall and 0-2 CUNYAC. Dating back to last season they have lost 13 straight games (last win was 10/9/2010 vs CSI 6-1). Lehman improves to 3-4 Overall and 1-1 CUNYAC. The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday Sept. 24, 2011 when they play Hunter College at 10am in Yonkers, NY.
